Recent Itch decision

Recently, Itch decided to not fight against the dystopian credit card companies because some group with around 1000 people cried to them about it. And now they have shadowbanned or straight-up deleted the game's page. This is incredibly bad for so many creators on this platform besides just the furry community, and it seems like they were targeting us as well in this shadowban because my game doesn't even have the tag for NSFW or the Adult tag. The only common occurrence that me and some others were able to find in the FVN discord server was that I had the combination of both the Furry tag and the sensitive content check-box clicked. This is incredibly stupid, because that button is meant to warn users that there would be something that is deemed to be a common trigger warning or something that is very hard to talk about.

Luckily so many people are fighting this, but we can never have too many people. We need to make them hear us. We need to make them not dismiss us.

BowserPuma (Maker of Chord Progressions (Really good VN)) has put out a post helping people know what they need to do to stop this madness. They so graciously also wrote a message that we can all use send to your local representative to help pass a bill that would make it so credit card companies can't do what they are doing right now.

From BowserPuma's post on Chord Progressions

I urge you to please vote for the Fair Access to Banking Act. Payment processing companies like Visa and Mastercard are denying the free speech of artists who sell their art in open marketplaces. This has recently impacted video gaming. Steam and itch.io, two very popular marketplaces for distributing and buying video games, have been impacted. Many projects on these platforms have been censored and livelihoods have been gravely impacted. Payment processors, under no circumstances, should be able to dictate what we can buy and create. I believe endorsing this legislation will be helpful to that end.

(Don't copy this next part unless you're a developer yourself): I am a video game creator affected by this censorship and it needs to stop.

Edit:

It's been brought to my attention that the act has dubious wording that could get taken advantage of, so it may not be right to proceed knowing that. What we do know for sure is that we need to call the payment processors and tell them to revert their actions. If collective shout could do it with their 1000 people we could destroy that number if we all came together.

Sorry for making a call to action that has a possible detrimental side effect, if this ever happens again I'll make sure to do my research before putting something out like this again.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, but in the meantime I will never let something like this get me down.
